Krumplis tészta 🇭🇺 — also known as Hungarian Potato Pasta — is that humble, homey, nostalgic dish that every Hungarian grew up with. Cheap, filling, and surprisingly addictive.
It’s the perfect “end-of-the-month” meal, but with the right seasoning and that perfect golden finish — it’s good enough to crave on purpose!
🍽️ Hungarian Potato Pasta (Krumplis Tészta)
A simple dish of pasta tossed with seasoned mashed potatoes and caramelized onions — a pantry hero!
🥔 Ingredients (for 4 hungry souls):
- 500g (1 lb) pasta (traditionally elbow macaroni or homemade square noodles – kockatészta)
- 4 medium potatoes, peeled and diced
- 2 large onions, finely chopped
- 3–4 tbsp oil or lard
- 2 tsp sweet Hungarian paprika
- Salt & pepper to taste
Optional but great:
- Garlic powder
- A pinch of chili flakes
- A spoonful of sour cream when serving 😍
