🇭🇺 Hungarian Potato Paprika

(Paprikás Krumpli)

Tender potatoes simmered in a rich, paprika gravy with sausage.
Perfect with bread, pickles, or sour cream.


⭐ Ingredients (4–6 servings)

  • 2–3 tbsp oil or lard
  • 1 large onion, finely chopped
  • 2–3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 tbsp sweet Hungarian paprika (don’t skip!)
  • 2 lbs (900 g) potatoes, peeled & cubed
  • 1–2 Hungarian sausages (kolbász), sliced
  • 1 green pepper, diced (optional but authentic)
  • 2 tomatoes, diced (or 1 tbsp tomato paste)
  • 1 liter (4 cups) water or broth
  • Salt & pepper to taste

Optional

  • 1 tsp hot paprika or chili
  • 1 bay leaf
  • 1 tsp caraway seeds
