Ingredients
- 2 tbsp lard or sunflower oil
- 1 large onion, finely chopped
- 2 cloves garlic, minced (optional)
- 1–2 Hungarian sausages (kolbász), sliced (or smoked sausage)
- 2 tbsp Hungarian sweet paprika
- 1–2 tomatoes, peeled and chopped (or 1 tbsp tomato paste)
- 2–3 Hungarian green peppers, chopped (or bell peppers)
- 6 medium potatoes, peeled and cut into chunks
- 1 tsp caraway seeds (optional, but traditional)
- Salt and black pepper, to taste
- 4–5 cups water or stock
- 1 bay leaf (optional)
Optional for serving: sour cream & fresh parsley
