
Hungarian Poppy Seed Pasta (Mákos Tészta) 🇭🇺🍝
A classic Hungarian comfort dessert—soft noodles tossed with sweetened ground poppy seeds. Simple, cozy, and nutty.
Ingredients
- 250 g wide egg noodles or pasta
- ¾ cup ground poppy seeds
- 3–4 tbsp sugar (adjust to taste)
- 3 tbsp butter
- Pinch of salt
- Optional: milk for a creamier texture
Instructions
- Cook pasta in salted water until tender; drain.
- In a pan, melt butter and lightly toast poppy seeds for 1–2 minutes (optional).
- Mix poppy seeds with sugar. For a creamier version, add a splash of milk.
- Toss the cooked pasta with the poppy seed-sugar mixture until evenly coated.
- Serve warm, optionally drizzling extra melted butter on top.
