🍳 Instructions
1️⃣ Sauté the onion
In a large pot, heat lard or oil over medium heat.
Add the chopped onion and cook until soft and golden, about 5 minutes.
2️⃣ Add the paprika
Remove the pot from heat for a moment (to prevent the paprika from burning),
then stir in the sweet Hungarian paprika and garlic. Mix quickly until fragrant.
3️⃣ Add potatoes and vegetables
Add the potatoes, tomato (or tomato paste), green pepper (if using), and sausage slices.
Stir everything so the paprika coats all the ingredients evenly.
4️⃣ Add liquid and simmer
Pour in water or broth just enough to barely cover the potatoes.
Season with salt and pepper.
Bring to a boil, then reduce heat and simmer for 25–30 minutes, or until the potatoes are tender and the sauce thickens slightly.
5️⃣ Serve hot
Enjoy your Paprikás Krumpli as-is, or with a slice of crusty bread.
Some people like to add a spoon of sour cream on top — pure perfection! 😋
