Here’s a hearty, flavorful take on Hungarian Meatloaf (Fasírt vagy Stefánia vagdalt) — often served with mashed potatoes or pickles. What makes the Hungarian version special is the generous use of paprika and, in the case of Stefánia vagdalt, the surprise hard-boiled egg in the center!

📝 Ingredients:

  • 1½ lbs (700g) ground pork or beef (or mix)
  • 1 onion, finely chopped
  • 2–3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 slices of bread, soaked in milk then squeezed out
  • 1 egg (for binding)
  • 1 tsp salt
  • ½ tsp black pepper
  • 1½ tsp sweet Hungarian paprika
  • 1 tsp marjoram (optional)
  • 1 tsp mustard (optional)
  • 2–3 hard-boiled eggs (for center)
  • Breadcrumbs, for coating
  • Oil or lard, for greasing
