
🇭🇺 Hungarian Kiffles (Kifli Cookies)
Ingredients
Dough:
- 2 ½ cups all-purpose flour
- 1 cup unsalted butter, cold and cubed
- 8 oz (225g) cream cheese, cold
- 1 tablespoon sugar
- Pinch of salt
Filling options:
- 1 cup finely ground walnuts + ¼ cup sugar + 2–3 tbsp milk
OR - Thick apricot jam
OR - Poppy seed filling
For topping:
- Powdered sugar
Instructions
- In a bowl, combine flour, sugar, and salt.
- Cut in butter and cream cheese until dough forms.
- Shape into a disk, wrap, and refrigerate at least 1 hour.
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).
- Roll dough thin on a floured surface and cut into small squares or triangles.
- Place a small spoon of filling in the center.
- Roll up into crescents and place on lined baking sheet.
- Bake 15–18 minutes until lightly golden.
- Cool slightly and dust generously with powdered sugar.
