  • 1 tsp caraway seeds (optional)
  • 2 medium carrots, sliced
  • 2 medium parsnips, sliced
  • 1 medium potato, diced
  • 1 bell pepper, chopped (optional)
  • 1 medium tomato, chopped or 1 tbsp tomato paste
  • 6 cups (1.5 L) beef or vegetable broth
  • Salt and black pepper to taste
  • 1 bay leaf (optional)
