1. Build the Base
- Heat oil or lard in a large pot.
- Add chopped onions and cook until soft and golden.
- Remove from heat and stir in paprika (to prevent burning).
- Add garlic and caraway seeds.
2. Cook the Meat
- Add beef cubes and mix well to coat.
- Return to heat and cook for a few minutes.
- Add a small amount of water and simmer until the meat begins to soften.
3. Add Vegetables
- Add carrots, potatoes, bell pepper, and tomato.
- Pour in broth or water.
- Season with salt and pepper.
4. Simmer
- Cover and cook on low heat for 1.5 to 2 hours, until the beef is tender and flavors are rich.
5. Serve
- Serve hot as a soup or stew with fresh bread.
