
Instructions:
- Heat oil or lard in a large pot. Add onions and cook slowly until soft and golden.
- Add beef and brown on all sides.
- Remove pot from heat and stir in paprika (this keeps it from burning).
- Add garlic, tomato, and bell pepper. Mix well.
- Season with salt, pepper, and caraway seeds.
- Pour in a little liquid, stir, then add remaining broth or water and bay leaf.
- Cover and simmer for about 1.5 hours until beef begins to soften.
- Add carrots and potatoes, then continue cooking for another 25–30 minutes.
- Adjust seasoning and serve hot.
