Hungarian Goulash (Gulyás)🇭🇺

🍳 Instructions:

  1. Heat oil/lard in a large pot. Add onions and sauté until soft and golden.
  2. Remove pot from heat. Stir in paprika (this prevents burning), then return to heat and immediately add the beef cubes.
  3. Cook for a few minutes, stirring to brown all sides of the meat.
  4. Add caraway seeds, garlic, tomato, and green pepper. Cook for 5 minutes.
  5. Pour in broth or water just to cover the beef. Bring to a boil.
  6. Reduce heat, cover, and simmer for about 1 hour, or until beef starts to become tender.
  7. Add carrots, parsnips, and potatoes. Add more broth if needed to cover.
  8. Continue simmering for another 30–40 minutes, until vegetables and beef are fully tender.
  9. Adjust seasoning with salt and pepper.

🍞 Serve With:

  • Csipetke (small homemade pinched noodles), rustic bread, or crusty rolls.
