
Hungarian Goulash (Gulyás) – Recipe Only
Ingredients:
- 800 g beef (shank or chuck), cubed
- 3 tbsp oil or lard
- 2 large onions, chopped
- 2 tbsp sweet Hungarian paprika
- 1 tsp salt
- 1/2 tsp black pepper
- 1 tsp caraway seeds
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 tomato, chopped
- 1 green bell pepper, chopped
- 2 carrots, sliced
- 2 potatoes, cubed
- 6 cups water or beef broth
Instructions:
- Heat oil in a pot, sauté onions until soft.
- Remove from heat, stir in paprika.
- Add beef, salt, pepper, garlic, caraway seeds, tomato, and green pepper.
- Cover and simmer gently until beef starts to soften.
- Add water or broth and carrots; cook about 1 hour.
- Add potatoes and cook until tender.
- Adjust seasoning and serve hot.
