👩🍳 Instructions
1️⃣ Make the dough
- In a small bowl, mix warm water/milk with sugar and yeast. Let sit 5–10 minutes until frothy.
- In a large bowl, combine flour and salt.
- Add yeast mixture and 2 tbsp oil. Mix until a soft dough forms.
- Knead 5–7 minutes until smooth and elastic.
- Cover and let rise 1–1.5 hours, until doubled in size.
2️⃣ Shape the Lángos
- Punch down the dough.
- Divide into 6–8 pieces.
- Roll each piece into a flat disc (about 1/2 inch thick).
3️⃣ Fry
- Heat vegetable oil in a deep skillet or pan (about 1–2 inches / 2.5–5 cm deep).
- Fry each piece 2–3 minutes per side, until golden brown.
- Drain on paper towels.
4️⃣ Add toppings
- Brush with garlic butter, spread sour cream, and sprinkle cheese or any desired toppings.
- Serve warm and enjoy immediately!
✨ Tips
- Make sure oil is hot enough (about 350°F / 175°C) — too cool and Lángos will absorb oil.
- Traditional toppings: garlic butter + sour cream + shredded cheese.
- You can also make sweet Lángos with powdered sugar or jam.
- For a lighter version, bake at 400°F / 200°C for 10–12 minutes instead of frying.
