
Ingredients
- 3½ cups all-purpose flour
- ¼ cup sugar
- 1 packet (7 g) active dry yeast
- 1 cup warm milk
- 3 egg yolks
- ¼ cup melted butter
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- Pinch of salt
- Oil for frying
- Powdered sugar or jam, for serving
Instructions
- Dissolve yeast in warm milk with 1 tbsp sugar; let foam 10 minutes.
- Mix flour, remaining sugar, salt, egg yolks, melted butter, and vanilla. Add yeast mixture and knead until smooth.
- Cover and let rise 1–1½ hours until doubled.
- Roll dough to ½-inch thickness; cut circles. Rest 15 minutes.
- Fry in 170°C / 340°F oil, covered for first side, then uncovered, until golden.
- Drain, dust with powdered sugar, and serve with jam.
