
🇭🇺 Hungarian Cottage Cheese Donuts – Túrófánk
Ingredients
- 1 cup (250g) cottage cheese (well drained)
- 2 eggs
- 3 tablespoons sugar
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 cup (125g) all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon baking powder
- Pinch of salt
- Oil for frying
For Serving:
- Powdered sugar
- Apricot jam (optional)
Instructions
- In a bowl, mix cottage cheese, eggs, sugar, and vanilla.
- Add flour, baking powder, and salt. Stir until combined (dough will be soft and slightly sticky).
- Heat oil to 340–350°F (170–175°C).
- Using a spoon, drop small portions of dough into hot oil.
- Fry 2–3 minutes per side until golden brown.
- Remove and drain on paper towels.
- Dust generously with powdered sugar.
Serve warm, optionally with apricot jam.
