Hungarian Cottage Cheese Cake (Túrótorta)

A soft, creamy, and fluffy Hungarian dessert that everyone will love!


📝 Ingredients:

  • 750 g semi-fat plain cottage cheese
  • 4 tbsp sugar
  • 4 tbsp flour (add a bit more if needed)
  • 4 egg yolks
  • 4 egg whites (beaten into stiff peaks)
  • 400 ml sour cream (20%)
  • 20 g vanilla sugar
  • Pinch of salt
  • Zest of 1 lemon
  • Raisins, optional

👩‍🍳 Instructions:

  1. Preheat oven to 180°C / 350°F.
  2. In a large bowl, mix cottage cheese, sugar, flour, egg yolks, vanilla sugar, lemon zest, and a pinch of salt until smooth.
  3. Gently fold in the sour cream.
  4. Carefully fold in the stiffly beaten egg whites to keep the mixture airy.
  5. Add raisins if desired.
  6. Pour the batter into a greased baking pan.
  7. Bake for 40–50 minutes, until golden and set in the center.
  8. Let cool completely before slicing.
