
Here’s a Traditional Hungarian Chimney Cake (Kürtőskalács) Recipe 🇭🇺
Kürtőskalács is one of Hungary’s most iconic street desserts — a sweet, spiral-shaped pastry baked on a spit, caramelized on the outside, and soft on the inside. Traditionally, it’s cooked over hot charcoal, but you can also make it at home using the oven.
🍞 Ingredients:
- 3 ½ cups (450 g) all-purpose flour
- ½ cup (120 ml) lukewarm milk
- ¼ cup (50 g) granulated sugar
- 2 ¼ tsp (7 g) active dry yeast
- 2 large egg yolks
- ½ cup (115 g) unsalted butter, melted
- ½ tsp salt
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
For rolling & coating:
- ½ cup (100 g) granulated sugar
- 1 tsp ground cinnamon (optional)
- Melted butter for brushing
