
Hungarian Chicken Paprikash (Csirkepaprikás)
Ingredients:
- 2 lbs chicken pieces (thighs, drumsticks, or breasts)
- 2 tbsp oil or lard
- 2 large onions, finely chopped
- 2 tbsp Hungarian sweet paprika
- 1 tsp salt
- 1/2 tsp black pepper
- 1 green pepper, sliced (optional)
- 1 tomato, chopped (optional)
- 1 cup chicken broth or water
- 3/4 cup sour cream
- 1 tbsp flour
Instructions:
- Heat oil in a pot, sauté onions until soft and lightly golden.
- Remove from heat, stir in paprika.
- Add chicken, salt, pepper, pepper slices, and tomato.
- Add broth, cover and simmer 35–40 minutes until chicken is tender.
- Mix sour cream with flour, stir into sauce.
- Simmer 5 minutes until thickened.
- Serve with nokedli or egg noodles.
