Soft, flaky, buttery savory biscuits with lots of cheese — perfect for breakfast, snacks, or parties!


🧀 Ingredients (about 25–30 pieces)

  • 3 cups (375 g) all-purpose flour
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 tsp sugar
  • 2¼ tsp (1 packet) dry yeast
  • ½ cup (120 ml) warm milk
  • ½ cup (120 g) sour cream
  • ½ cup (115 g) butter, softened
  • 1 egg
  • 1½ cups (150 g) shredded cheese (Trappista, cheddar, or mozzarella)

For topping:

  • 1 egg (for brushing)
  • Extra shredded cheese

👩‍🍳 Instructions

1️⃣ Activate yeast
Mix warm milk, sugar, and yeast. Let sit 5–10 minutes until foamy.

2️⃣ Make dough
In a bowl, combine flour and salt.
Add yeast mixture, sour cream, butter, egg, and shredded cheese.
Knead until smooth and soft (about 8 minutes).

3️⃣ Rise
Cover and let rise 1 hour until doubled.

4️⃣ Roll & fold (for flaky layers)
Roll dough to ½ inch thick.
Fold into thirds (like a letter).
Rest 15 minutes.
Repeat rolling and folding 2 more times.

5️⃣ Cut
Roll to about ¾ inch thick.
Cut into small circles using a biscuit cutter.

6️⃣ Top & bake
Place on lined tray.
Brush with beaten egg and sprinkle cheese.
Bake at 375°F (190°C) for 18–22 minutes until golden.
