Hungarian Cheese Biscuits (Pogácsa) 🇭🇺

👩‍🍳 Instructions:

  1. In a bowl, combine flour, salt, and sugar.
  2. Add yeast, then mix in sour cream, egg, milk, and butter.
  3. Knead into a soft, smooth dough. Fold in 1 cup grated cheese.
  4. Cover and let it rise in a warm place for 45–60 minutes or until doubled.
  5. Roll out to about 1 inch thick on a floured surface. Score a crisscross pattern on top (optional).
  6. Use a round cutter (or glass) to cut out small biscuits.
  7. Place on a baking sheet lined with parchment. Brush tops with beaten egg.
  8. Sprinkle with remaining cheese (and caraway seeds if using).
  9. Bake at 375°F (190°C) for 20–25 minutes or until golden.

🧺 Serving:

  • Enjoy warm or at room temp.
  • Perfect with soups, wine, or coffee.
  • Store in an airtight container — they’re even better the next day!
