
Hungarian Cabbage and Noodles (Káposztás Tészta)
Ingredients:
- 12 oz egg noodles
- 1 small green cabbage, finely shredded
- 2 tbsp oil or lard
- 1 medium onion, finely chopped (optional)
- 1 tsp sugar
- Salt, to taste
- Black pepper, to taste
Instructions:
- Cook egg noodles in salted water according to package directions. Drain and set aside.
- Heat oil or lard in a large skillet over medium heat.
- Add sugar and let it caramelize until deep golden.
- Add shredded cabbage (and onion if using). Season with salt and cook, stirring often, until cabbage is soft and caramelized.
- Add cooked noodles to the skillet and toss to combine.
- Season generously with black pepper and adjust salt.
- Serve hot.
