Hungarian Apple Pite (Apple Pie)

Ingredients (serves 8):

For the dough:

  • 400 g (3¼ cups) all-purpose flour
  • 200 g (1 cup) unsalted butter, cold
  • 100 g (½ cup) sugar
  • 2 egg yolks
  • 2–3 tbsp sour cream
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • Pinch of salt

For the filling:

  • 1 kg (2.2 lbs) apples, peeled and grated
  • 100 g (½ cup) sugar
  • 1 tsp cinnamon
  • 1 tbsp lemon juice
  • 2 tbsp breadcrumbs
