
🇭🇺 Hungarian Apple Fritters

Alma pongyolában literally means “apples in a robe.” 🍎
Fresh apple slices are dipped in a light batter, fried until golden, and dusted with powdered sugar. Crispy outside, soft and tender inside — a cozy Hungarian favorite.
📝 Ingredients
- 3–4 firm apples (Granny Smith or similar)
- 1 cup (125 g) all-purpose flour
- 2 eggs
- ¾ cup (180 ml) milk
- 1 tbsp sugar
- Pinch of salt
- ½ tsp cinnamon (optional)
- Oil for frying
- Powdered sugar for dusting
👩🍳 Instructions
1️⃣ Prepare Apples
- Peel apples and remove cores.
- Slice into rings about ¼ inch thick.
- Pat dry with paper towel.
2️⃣ Make Batter
- Whisk flour, eggs, milk, sugar, salt, and cinnamon until smooth.
- Batter should be slightly thick but pourable.
3️⃣ Fry
- Heat oil to 350°F (175°C).
- Dip apple slices into batter, coating fully.
- Fry 1–2 minutes per side until golden brown.
- Remove and drain on paper towels.
4️⃣ Serve
- Dust generously with powdered sugar.
- Serve warm.
