Alma pongyolában literally means “apples in a robe.” 🍎
Fresh apple slices are dipped in a light batter, fried until golden, and dusted with powdered sugar. Crispy outside, soft and tender inside — a cozy Hungarian favorite.


📝 Ingredients

  • 3–4 firm apples (Granny Smith or similar)
  • 1 cup (125 g) all-purpose flour
  • 2 eggs
  • ¾ cup (180 ml) milk
  • 1 tbsp sugar
  • Pinch of salt
  • ½ tsp cinnamon (optional)
  • Oil for frying
  • Powdered sugar for dusting

👩‍🍳 Instructions

1️⃣ Prepare Apples

  • Peel apples and remove cores.
  • Slice into rings about ¼ inch thick.
  • Pat dry with paper towel.

2️⃣ Make Batter

  • Whisk flour, eggs, milk, sugar, salt, and cinnamon until smooth.
  • Batter should be slightly thick but pourable.

3️⃣ Fry

  • Heat oil to 350°F (175°C).
  • Dip apple slices into batter, coating fully.
  • Fry 1–2 minutes per side until golden brown.
  • Remove and drain on paper towels.

4️⃣ Serve

  • Dust generously with powdered sugar.
  • Serve warm.
