👩‍🍳 Instructions:

  1. Sauté Onions:
    • In a large pot, heat oil or lard and sauté onions until golden and soft.
  2. Add Meats:
    • Add pork and beef strips. Cook until browned on all sides.
  3. Season & Simmer:
    • Stir in garlic, paprika(s), salt, pepper, and bay leaves.
    • Add just enough water or broth to barely cover the meat. Simmer over low heat for 45–60 minutes, covered.
  4. Add Sausage:
    • Add sliced smoked sausage and continue to simmer for another 20 minutes until everything is tender and the liquid has reduced to a thick sauce.
  5. Optional Sour Cream Finish:
    • Stir in sour cream for a creamy finish just before serving. Do not boil after adding sour cream.
  6. Serve:
    • Traditionally served with nokedli (Hungarian dumplings), boiled potatoes, or buttered egg noodles.

🇭🇺 Tip:

This dish is all about deep, rich flavors — don’t skip quality paprika and use good Hungarian sausage if you can!
