Ingredients

Hazelnut Cake

  • ¼ tsp salt
  • ¾ cup (150 g) sugar
  • ½ cup (120 ml) vegetable oil or melted butter
  • 3 large eggs (room temperature)
  • ¾ cup (180 ml) milk
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract

Chocolate-Hazelnut Cream

  • 1 cup (240 ml) heavy cream
  • 200 g chocolate hazelnut spread (Nutella-style)
  • 2 tbsp powdered sugar (optional)

Chocolate Glaze (optional but amazing)

  • 100 g dark chocolate, chopped
  • ½ cup (120 ml) heavy cream

Instructions

1. Prepare the Cake

  1. Preheat oven to 170°C (340°F). Grease and line a 20–22 cm (8–9 inch) round pan.
  2. In a bowl, whisk flour, ground hazelnuts, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
  3. In another bowl, beat eggs with sugar until pale.
  4. Add oil (or butter), milk, and vanilla. Mix well.
  5. Gradually fold in dry ingredients until smooth.
  6. Pour into pan and bake 40–45 minutes, or until a toothpick comes out clean.
  7. Cool completely, then slice into 2 layers.

2. Make the Chocolate-Hazelnut Cream

  1. Whip cold heavy cream until soft peaks form.
  2. Gently fold in chocolate hazelnut spread and powdered sugar.
  3. Chill 10–15 minutes for better structure.

3. Assemble

  1. Spread half of the cream on the first cake layer.
  2. Place second layer on top.
  3. Cover the top and sides with remaining cream.

4. Chocolate Glaze (Optional)

  1. Heat cream until just steaming.
  2. Pour over chopped chocolate, wait 1 minute, then stir smooth.
  3. Let cool slightly and drizzle over the cake.
