
Grandma Varga’s Hungarian Cucumber Salad (Uborkasaláta)
Ingredients:
- 2 large cucumbers, thinly sliced
- ½ tsp salt
- 3 tbsp white vinegar
- 2 tbsp water
- 1 tbsp sugar
- 1 clove garlic, minced
- ½ tsp paprika
- 2 tbsp sour cream (optional)
- Fresh dill, chopped (optional)
Instructions:
- Place sliced cucumbers in a bowl and sprinkle with salt. Let sit 10 minutes, then gently squeeze out excess liquid.
- In a small bowl, mix vinegar, water, sugar, garlic, and paprika.
- Pour dressing over cucumbers and toss well.
- Stir in sour cream and dill if using.
- Chill for 15–20 minutes before serving.
