Grandma Varga’s Hungarian Cucumber Salad (Uborkasaláta)

Ingredients:

  • 2 large cucumbers, thinly sliced
  • ½ tsp salt
  • 3 tbsp white vinegar
  • 2 tbsp water
  • 1 tbsp sugar
  • 1 clove garlic, minced
  • ½ tsp paprika
  • 2 tbsp sour cream (optional)
  • Fresh dill, chopped (optional)

Instructions:

  1. Place sliced cucumbers in a bowl and sprinkle with salt. Let sit 10 minutes, then gently squeeze out excess liquid.
  2. In a small bowl, mix vinegar, water, sugar, garlic, and paprika.
  3. Pour dressing over cucumbers and toss well.
  4. Stir in sour cream and dill if using.
  5. Chill for 15–20 minutes before serving.
