
Gourmet Patty Melt 🥩🧀🥪
Ingredients
- 1 lb (450 g) ground beef (80/20 for juiciness)
- Salt & black pepper
- 1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce (optional)
- 2 tbsp butter
- 1 large onion, thinly sliced
- 8 slices rye bread (or sourdough)
- 8 slices Swiss cheese (or Gruyère / Cheddar)
- 1 tbsp olive oil
Instructions
- Caramelize the onions
- Heat butter in a skillet over medium-low heat.
- Add onions and cook 20–25 minutes, stirring occasionally, until deep golden.
- Set aside.
- Cook the patties
- Season beef with salt, pepper, and Worcestershire.
- Form 4 thin oval patties.
- Cook in a hot skillet with olive oil 3–4 minutes per side. Remove.
- Assemble
- Butter one side of each bread slice.
- Place bread butter-side down.
- Add cheese, patty, onions, more cheese, and top with bread.
- Grill
- Cook on medium heat 3–4 minutes per side until bread is crisp and cheese melted.
- Serve
- Rest 1 minute, slice, and enjoy.
