🥣 Instructions

1️⃣ Prepare the Dumpling Dough

  1. Mash boiled potatoes until smooth.
  2. Let cool slightly, then mix in egg, flour, and a pinch of salt to form a soft dough.

2️⃣ Prepare the Plums

  1. Remove pits and fill each plum half with ~1 tsp sugar.

3️⃣ Shape the Dumplings

  1. Divide dough into 6–8 portions.
  2. Flatten each portion, place a sugared plum in the center, and wrap dough around it, sealing completely.
  3. Roll gently into smooth balls.

4️⃣ Cook the Dumplings

  1. Bring a large pot of salted water to a gentle boil.
  2. Carefully drop dumplings in and cook 10–12 minutes, until they float to the surface.
  3. Remove with a slotted spoon.

5️⃣ Prepare the Breadcrumb Topping

  1. In a skillet, melt butter over medium heat.
  2. Toast breadcrumbs until golden brown.
  3. Roll cooked dumplings in the buttery breadcrumbs.

6️⃣ Serve

  • Sprinkle with sugar or cinnamon sugar.
  • Serve warm for a comforting, traditional dessert.

💡 Tips

  • Use starchy potatoes for a smoother, more pliable dough.
  • Dust your hands and work surface with flour to prevent sticking.
  • For a richer flavor, add a teaspoon of vanilla sugar to the dough.
  • These can be served with sour cream or a drizzle of melted butter if desired.
