Ingredients
- 4 large potatoes, peeled and grated
- 1 small onion, grated
- 1 large egg
- 2–3 tbsp all-purpose flour
- Salt & black pepper, to taste
For Frying
- Vegetable oil or butter
For Serving
- Applesauce (traditional)
- Sour cream or yogurt
- Powdered sugar (optional)
Instructions
- Grate potatoes and onion. Squeeze out excess liquid well.
- In a bowl, mix grated potatoes, onion, egg, flour, salt, and pepper.
- Heat oil or butter in a skillet over medium-high heat.
- Spoon mixture into pan and flatten slightly.
- Fry 3–4 minutes per side until golden and crispy.
- Drain on paper towels and serve hot.
