Classic Fried Rice Recipe
Fried rice is a quick, flavorful dish made with simple ingredients. It’s perfect for using leftover rice and can be customized with vegetables, chicken, shrimp, or eggs.
🍚 Ingredients
- 3 cups cooked rice (cold, day-old rice works best)
- 2 tbsp vegetable oil (or sesame oil for flavor)
- 2 eggs, beaten
- 1 small onion, finely chopped
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- ½ cup carrots, diced
- ½ cup peas (fresh or frozen)
- 2–3 tbsp soy sauce (to taste)
- 1 tsp oyster sauce (optional, for depth)
- ½ tsp black pepper
- Salt, to taste
- 2 green onions, chopped
Optional add-ins:
Cooked chicken, shrimp, beef, or tofu
👩🍳 Instructions
- Prepare the pan:
Heat 1 tablespoon oil in a large pan or wok over medium-high heat. - Cook the eggs:
Pour in beaten eggs, scramble gently, then remove from the pan and set aside. - Sauté aromatics:
Add remaining oil. Sauté onion for 1–2 minutes until soft. Add garlic and cook for 30 seconds until fragrant. - Add vegetables:
Stir in carrots and peas. Cook for 2–3 minutes until tender. - Add rice:
Add the cold cooked rice. Break up clumps and stir-fry for 3–4 minutes so the rice heats evenly. - Season:
Add soy sauce, oyster sauce (if using), black pepper, and salt. Mix well. - Combine:
Return scrambled eggs to the pan. Add green onions and mix everything together. - Serve:
Taste and adjust seasoning. Serve hot.
🍽 Tips
- Always use cold rice to avoid mushy fried rice.
- Cook on high heat for best flavor.
- Don’t overcrowd the pan—cook in batches if needed.
- Add a few drops of sesame oil at the end for aroma.
A simple, delicious fried rice that’s perfect as a main dish or side.
