Easy Hungarian Pork Paprikash🇭🇺

Instructions

1. Sear the Pork

  1. Heat oil in a large pan over medium heat.
  2. Brown the pork cubes on all sides. Remove and set aside.

2. Cook the Onions & Garlic

  1. In the same pan, sauté onions until soft and golden.
  2. Add garlic and cook 30 seconds more.
  3. Stir in paprika (sweet and/or hot) — do not burn it!

3. Build the Sauce

  1. Return pork to the pan.
  2. Add broth (enough to cover meat partially).
  3. Add bell peppers and tomatoes if using.
  4. Season with salt and pepper.

4. Simmer

  • Cover and simmer for 45–60 minutes, until pork is tender.

5. Add Sour Cream

  1. In a small bowl, mix sour cream + flour (optional, prevents curdling).
  2. Stir into the stew and cook 5–10 minutes until creamy and thickened.
  3. Adjust seasoning as needed.
