
🍩 Classic Homemade Doughnuts

These homemade doughnuts are light, golden, and absolutely delicious—perfect plain, sugar-coated, or glazed.
🛒 Ingredients (Makes 10–12)
For the Dough
- 3½ cups all-purpose flour
- ¼ cup sugar
- 2¼ tsp instant yeast (1 packet)
- ¾ cup warm milk
- 2 tbsp melted butter
- 1 egg
- ½ tsp salt
- ½ tsp vanilla (optional)
For Frying
- Vegetable oil
Optional Toppings
- Powdered sugar
- Cinnamon sugar
- Chocolate glaze or vanilla glaze
👩🍳 Instructions
1️⃣ Make the dough
Mix warm milk, yeast, and sugar. Let sit 5 minutes until foamy.
Add egg, butter, vanilla, salt, and flour. Mix and knead until soft.
2️⃣ First rise
Cover and let rise in a warm place for 1 hour, until doubled.
3️⃣ Shape
Roll dough to ½-inch thickness. Cut doughnuts (use a glass + bottle cap).
4️⃣ Second rise
Place on parchment, cover, and rest 20 minutes.
5️⃣ Fry
Heat oil to 350°F (175°C).
Fry doughnuts 1–2 minutes per side until golden.
6️⃣ Finish
Drain on paper towels. Coat or glaze while warm.
🍫 Quick Glaze (Optional)
- 1 cup powdered sugar
- 2–3 tbsp milk
- ½ tsp vanilla
Mix until smooth and dip doughnuts.

- Oil too hot = dark outside, raw inside
