Instructions

1. Make the Dough

  1. In a large bowl, whisk together:
    warm milk + sugar + yeast. Rest 5 minutes.
  2. Add eggs + melted butter + salt.
  3. Add flour gradually and knead 8–10 minutes until smooth and elastic.

2. First Rise

  • Place dough in an oiled bowl.
  • Cover and let rise 1 hour, or until doubled in size.

3. Shape the Doughnuts

  1. Roll out dough to about 1.5 cm / ½ inch thick.
  2. Cut circles with a doughnut cutter or two round cutters (one big, one small).
  3. Place on a floured tray and cover for 30 minutes to puff up again.

4. Fry

  • Heat oil to 170–180°C / 340–350°F.
  • Fry doughnuts until golden on each side (about 1 minute per side).
  • Remove and drain on paper towels.

5. Coat or Glaze

While still warm:

  • Roll in sugar or cinnamon sugar
    OR
  • Dip in chocolate glaze
    OR
  • Dust with powdered sugar

🍩 Simple Chocolate Glaze (Optional)

  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • 2 tbsp cocoa powder
  • 2–3 tbsp milk
  • ½ tsp vanilla

Mix until smooth and dip doughnuts while warm.
