Túrós Csusza

Ingredients

  • 12 oz (350 g) wide egg noodles
  • 10 oz (300 g) cottage cheese or farmer cheese, crumbled
  • 4 oz (120 g) bacon, diced
  • 2–3 tbsp bacon fat or butter
  • Salt, to taste
  • Freshly ground black pepper, to taste
  • Sour cream (optional, for serving)

Instructions

  1. Cook noodles in well-salted water until al dente. Drain.
  2. In a skillet, cook bacon until crispy. Remove bacon and reserve fat.
  3. Add noodles to the skillet with bacon fat (or butter) and toss.
  4. Gently mix in cottage cheese.
  5. Season with salt and plenty of black pepper.
  6. Top with crispy bacon and serve hot, with sour cream if desired.
