Crispy Fried Mushrooms

Ingredients (Serves 2–3)

  • 500 g (1 lb) fresh mushrooms, cleaned and trimmed
  • ½ cup (60 g) all-purpose flour
  • ½ tsp salt
  • ½ tsp black pepper
  • ½ tsp garlic powder (optional)
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 cup (100 g) breadcrumbs or panko
  • Vegetable oil for frying
  • Optional: chopped parsley for garnish

Instructions

  1. Prepare mushrooms:
    Pat mushrooms dry with a paper towel.
  2. Set up breading station:
    • Bowl 1: flour mixed with salt, pepper, and garlic powder
    • Bowl 2: beaten eggs
    • Bowl 3: breadcrumbs or panko
  3. Coat mushrooms:
    Dip each mushroom in flour, then egg, then breadcrumbs, pressing lightly to coat well.
  4. Heat oil:
    In a deep skillet or pot, heat vegetable oil over medium-high heat (enough to cover the bottom, about 1 cm deep).
  5. Fry mushrooms:
    Fry mushrooms in batches 3–4 minutes per side, or until golden brown and crispy.
  6. Drain & serve:
    Remove mushrooms and place on paper towels to drain excess oil. Garnish with parsley and serve warm with your favorite dipping sauce.
