Ingredients

  • 20 oz cheese tortellini (fresh or refrigerated)
  • 1 lb Italian sausage (mild or spicy), casings removed
  • 1 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 small onion, finely chopped
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1½ cups heavy cream
  • ½ cup chicken broth
  • 1 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • ½ tsp Italian seasoning
  • Salt & black pepper, to taste
  • Fresh parsley or basil, chopped (optional)

Instructions

  1. Cook tortellini according to package directions. Drain and set aside.
  2. Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Brown sausage, breaking it up. Remove excess fat if needed.
  3. Add onion and cook until soft. Stir in garlic and cook 30 seconds.
  4. Pour in cream and chicken broth. Simmer 3–4 minutes.
  5. Stir in Parmesan and Italian seasoning until sauce is creamy.
  6. Add cooked tortellini and toss gently to coat.
  7. Season with salt and pepper. Garnish and serve hot.
