- 2 tbsp butter
For the sauce:
- 4 tbsp butter

- 1 1/2 cups heavy cream (or half-and-half)
- 3/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese (freshly grated is best)
- 1/2 tsp Italian seasoning
- Salt and pepper, to taste
- 1/2 cup reserved pasta water (optional, for thinning the sauce)
