Ingredients

  • 3½ cups (440 g) all-purpose flour
  • 2¼ tsp (7 g) active dry yeast
  • ¼ cup sugar
  • ¾ cup warm milk
  • ¼ cup warm water
  • 1 large egg
  • ¼ cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 1 tsp salt

For Brushing

  • 2 tbsp melted butter

Instructions

  1. In a bowl, mix warm milk, warm water, sugar, and yeast. Let sit 5–10 minutes until foamy.
  2. Add egg, melted butter, and salt. Mix well.
  3. Gradually add flour and knead until soft and elastic (8–10 minutes).
  4. Place dough in a greased bowl, cover, and let rise 1 hour until doubled.
  5. Punch down dough and divide into 12–15 balls.
  6. Grease a cast iron skillet and arrange rolls evenly inside.
  7. Cover and let rise 30–40 minutes until puffy.
  8. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C).
  9. Bake 20–25 minutes until golden brown.
  10. Brush with melted butter and serve warm.
