
Ingredients (Makes 1 9×9-inch pan)
For the Banana Brownies:
- 2 ripe bananas, mashed
- ½ cup (115 g) unsalted butter, melted
- ½ cup (100 g) brown sugar
- 2 large eggs
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- 1 cup (125 g) all-purpose flour
- ¼ cup (25 g) cocoa powder
- ½ tsp baking soda
- ¼ tsp salt
For the Brown Butter Frosting:
- ½ cup (115 g) unsalted butter
- 1½ cups (180 g) powdered sugar
- 1–2 tbsp milk or cream
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
Instructions
- Preheat oven: 350°F (175°C). Grease or line a 9×9-inch pan with parchment paper.
- Make banana brownie batter:
In a large bowl, combine mashed bananas, melted butter, brown sugar, eggs, and vanilla.
In a separate bowl, whisk flour, cocoa powder, baking soda, and salt.
Fold dry ingredients into wet until just combined. - Bake brownies:
Pour batter into prepared pan. Bake 25–30 minutes or until a toothpick inserted comes out mostly clean. Cool completely. - Make brown butter frosting:
- In a small saucepan, melt butter over medium heat, stirring occasionally until it turns golden brown and smells nutty. Remove from heat.
