Instructions
1. Preheat Oven:
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).
2. Cook the Bacon & Aromatics:
- In a skillet over medium heat, cook diced bacon until crisp.
- Remove bacon with a slotted spoon and set aside, leaving some drippings in the pan.
- Sauté onions in the drippings until translucent, about 3–4 minutes.
- Add garlic and cook 30 seconds until fragrant.
3. Mix the Beans:
- In a baking dish, combine baked beans, cooked bacon, sautéed onions & garlic.
- Stir in brown sugar, ketchup, mustard, and Worcestershire sauce.
- Season with salt and pepper to taste.
4. Bake:
- Bake uncovered for 25–30 minutes, until the mixture is bubbly and slightly thickened.
5. Serve:
- Serve hot as a side with grilled meats, hot dogs, cornbread, or burgers.
Tips:
- For a smokier flavor, use smoked bacon or add a few drops of liquid smoke.
- You can add chopped bell peppers or a splash of maple syrup for extra depth.
- If you want a thicker sauce, mash some beans slightly with the back of a spoon before baking.
If you want, I can also give you a slow-cooker version of baked beans with bacon—set it and forget it for perfect beans every time.
Do you want me to share that version?
