
Almás Pite (Hungarian Apple Cake) – Recipe Only
Ingredients – Dough:
- 3 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 cup butter, cold
- 1/2 cup sugar
- 2 eggs
- 1 tsp baking powder
- Pinch of salt
Ingredients – Apple Filling:
- 6–7 apples, peeled and grated
- 1/2 cup sugar
- 1 tsp ground cinnamon
- 1 tbsp lemon juice
Instructions:
- Mix flour, baking powder, sugar, and salt. Rub in cold butter until crumbly.
- Add eggs and knead into a soft dough. Divide into two parts.
- Roll out one part and place in a greased baking pan.
- Squeeze excess juice from apples, then mix with sugar, cinnamon, and lemon juice.
- Spread apple filling evenly over dough.
- Roll out second dough and place on top.
- Bake at 180°C (350°F) for 40–45 minutes until golden.
- Cool completely, dust with powdered sugar, slice, and serve.
