Instructions:
- Make the starter: In a glass or plastic bowl, mix flour, sugar, and milk. Cover loosely and leave at room temperature. Stir daily for 5 days. On Day 5, feed with 1 cup flour, 1 cup sugar, and 1 cup milk. Repeat every 5 days until Day 10. On Day 10, your starter is ready to use (you can also share with friends!).
- Make the bread: Preheat oven to 325°F (165°C). Grease two loaf pans.
- In a large bowl, combine flour, sugar, baking powder, baking soda, salt, cinnamon, and pudding mix.
- In another bowl, whisk eggs, oil, milk, and vanilla. Stir into dry ingredients until just combined.
- Pour batter into prepared pans. If using topping, sprinkle cinnamon-sugar over the top.
- Bake 50–60 minutes, until a toothpick inserted comes out clean. Cool in pans 10 minutes before removing.
This bread is soft, moist, and full of cozy cinnamon flavor. It’s an Amish classic not just for its taste, but for the tradition of sharing the starter — keeping community bonds strong. ❤️
