🍽 Gourmet Meatballs with Mushroom Sauce

Ingredients

For the Meatballs:

  • 1 lb (450 g) ground beef (or mix beef & pork for more flavor)
  • 1 small onion, finely grated
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 egg
  • ½ cup breadcrumbs (or panko)
  • ¼ cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 2 tbsp fresh parsley, finely chopped
  • 1 tsp Dijon mustard
  • ½ tsp smoked paprika
  • Salt and freshly ground black pepper, to taste
  • 2 tbsp olive oil (for frying)

For the Mushroom Sauce:

  • 2 tbsp butter
  • 2 tbsp olive oil
  • 10 oz (300 g) cremini or button mushrooms, sliced
  • 1 shallot, finely chopped (or ½ onion)
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • ½ cup dry white wine (or chicken broth)
  • 1 cup beef or chicken stock
  • 1 cup heavy cream (or crème fraîche for tang)
  • 1 tsp Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 tsp fresh thyme leaves (or ½ tsp dried)
  • Salt & pepper, to taste
  • Fresh parsley, for garnish
