Hungarian Gulyásleves (Traditional Goulash Soup)

Ingredients:

  • 500 g beef chuck or stewing beef, cut into cubes
  • 2 tbsp vegetable oil or lard
  • 2 onions, finely chopped
  • 2 tbsp Hungarian paprika
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 carrots, sliced
  • 2 parsnips, sliced
  • 2 potatoes, diced
  • 1 tomato, chopped
  • 1 green bell pepper, chopped
  • 1.5–2 L beef broth or water
  • 1 tsp caraway seeds (optional)
  • Salt and black pepper to taste
  • Fresh parsley for garnish
