🛒 Ingredients

  • 2 large cucumbers, very thinly sliced
  • 1 small red onion, thinly sliced (optional)
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 tbsp sugar
  • 2 tbsp white vinegar
  • ¼ cup cold water
  • 1 tbsp sour cream (optional, for creamy version)
  • ½ tsp Hungarian sweet paprika (optional)
  • Fresh dill (optional)

  1. Salt the Cucumbers
    Place sliced cucumbers in a bowl and sprinkle with salt.
    Let sit 15–20 minutes to release excess water.
    Gently squeeze out liquid.
  2. Make the Dressing
    Mix vinegar, sugar, and cold water until sugar dissolves.
  3. Combine
    Add onions (if using) and pour dressing over cucumbers.
    Toss well.
  4. Optional Creamy Version
    Stir in sour cream and sprinkle lightly with paprika and dill.
