Stuffed Cabbage Rolls

Ingredients

  • 1 large head cabbage
  • 1 lb (450 g) ground beef (or beef/pork mix)
  • 1 cup cooked rice
  • 1 onion, finely chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 egg
  • 1 tsp salt
  • ½ tsp black pepper
  • 1 tsp paprika
  • 2 cups tomato sauce
  • 1 cup water or broth

Instructions

  1. Boil whole cabbage 5–8 minutes until leaves soften. Separate leaves.
  2. Mix meat, rice, onion, garlic, egg, salt, pepper, and paprika.
  3. Place filling on each leaf, roll and tuck sides.
  4. Arrange rolls seam-side down in a pot.
  5. Pour tomato sauce and water over rolls.
  6. Cover and simmer 60–75 minutes on low heat.
  7. Serve hot.
