
🍫 Somlói Sponge Cake (Somlói Galuska)
Ingredients
Vanilla Sponge
- 4 eggs
- 120 g sugar
- 120 g all-purpose flour
- 1 tsp vanilla
Chocolate Sponge
- 4 eggs
- 120 g sugar
- 100 g flour
- 20 g cocoa powder
Walnut Sponge
- 4 eggs
- 120 g sugar
- 100 g flour
- 20 g ground walnuts
Syrup
- 200 ml water
- 100 g sugar
- 1 tbsp rum (or rum extract)
- Zest of 1 lemon
Other
- 100 g ground walnuts
- 80 g raisins (optional)
Chocolate Sauce
- 200 ml milk
- 100 g dark chocolate
- 1 tbsp cocoa powder
- 1 tbsp sugar
- 1 tsp cornstarch
To Serve
- Whipped cream
Instructions
- Bake sponges separately
Whisk eggs with sugar until fluffy. Fold in dry ingredients.
Bake each sponge at 180°C (350°F) for 12–15 minutes. Cool. - Prepare syrup
Boil water and sugar, cool slightly, add rum and lemon zest. - Assemble
Tear vanilla sponge into pieces in a dish. Drizzle with syrup.
Sprinkle walnuts and raisins.
Add chocolate sponge, syrup, then walnut sponge.
Drizzle remaining syrup. - Chocolate sauce
Heat milk, sugar, cocoa, chocolate. Thicken with cornstarch. Cool slightly. - Serve
Spoon dessert into bowls, pour warm chocolate sauce, top with whipped cream.
