
🔥 Chimney Cake (Kürtőskalács)
Ingredients (Dough)
- 500 g all-purpose flour
- 250 ml warm milk
- 25 g fresh yeast (or 7 g dry yeast)
- 70 g sugar
- 2 eggs
- 80 g melted butter
- 1 pinch salt
For Coating
- Melted butter (for brushing)
- Sugar (classic)
- Optional toppings: cinnamon sugar, chopped walnuts, coconut, cocoa
Instructions
- Dissolve yeast in warm milk with 1 tsp sugar. Let foam (10 min).
- Mix flour, sugar, salt, eggs, yeast mixture, and melted butter.
- Knead until smooth and elastic. Cover and let rise 1 hour.
- Roll dough to about 3–4 mm thick. Cut into long strips (2–3 cm wide).
- Wrap strips around buttered cylinders (or foil-wrapped rolling pins), slightly overlapping.
- Brush with melted butter and roll in sugar.
- Bake at 180–190°C (355–375°F) for 15–20 minutes, rotating until evenly golden.
(Or grill/rotisserie if you have one.) - Brush again with butter and roll in desired topping.
