
🥦 Baked Cauliflower (Rakott Karfiol)
Ingredients
- 1 large cauliflower, cut into florets
- 1 cup rice
- 300–400 g Hungarian sausage or smoked sausage, sliced
- 1 medium onion, finely chopped
- 2 cups sour cream
- 2 eggs
- Salt, black pepper
- 1 tsp paprika
- Butter or oil for greasing
- Optional: grated cheese for topping
Instructions
- Cook the rice in salted water until tender. Set aside.
- Boil cauliflower florets in salted water until just tender. Drain well.
- In a pan, sauté onion until soft. Add sausage slices and cook until lightly browned.
- In a bowl, mix sour cream with eggs, salt, pepper, and paprika.
- Grease a baking dish. Layer half the rice, half the cauliflower, and half the sausage mixture.
- Spoon over some of the sour cream mixture.
- Repeat layers and finish with remaining sour cream (and cheese if using).
- Bake at 180°C (350°F) for 35–40 minutes, until golden and bubbly.
- Let rest 10 minutes before serving.
