🌰 Hungarian Walnut Cake – Soft, Sweet & Irresistible

A classic Hungarian dessert that’s perfect for family gatherings or a cozy coffee break. Soft, buttery cake with a hint of rum and a crunchy walnut topping — simply irresistible! 😍


Ingredients (for a 25 x 35 cm baking tray):

Cake:

  • 4 large eggs
  • 200 g powdered sugar
  • 200 g melted butter
  • 1 pack vanilla sugar
  • 2 tbsp rum
  • Zest of half a lemon
  • A pinch of salt
  • 200 g all-purpose flour
  • 6 g baking powder

Topping:

  • 100 g ground walnuts
  • Powdered sugar for dusting

Instructions:

1️⃣ Prepare the Batter:

  • Beat eggs, powdered sugar, and vanilla sugar until fluffy.
  • Gradually add melted butter, rum, lemon zest, and a pinch of salt.
  • Fold in flour and baking powder until smooth.

2️⃣ Bake the Cake:

  • Preheat oven to 180°C (350°F).
  • Pour batter into a greased 25 x 35 cm tray.
  • Bake for 25–30 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean.

3️⃣ Add Topping:

  • Sprinkle ground walnuts on top while still warm.
  • Dust with powdered sugar once cooled.
